How many cigarettes I haven't smoked.

| Back to Home page
Here are some facts that astounded me.

  • I quit smoking on June 6th 2000.
  • As of Jan. 1 2007, I have gone 2,409 days without a cigarette. It's definitely over.
  • Given my smoking rate of 1 pack (20) per day, I have not smoked 60,250 cigarettes! That fact alone blows my mind. I can't believe that I would have purchased and lit up over 60,000 times since my quit-day. (That's assuming that I had lived this long if I was still smoking.)
  • Given the price increases that have taken place since 2000, I would have had to earn $17,205.24 of after-tax money just to purchase those cigarettes!
  • I've also saved $1,000 per year in life insurance premiums.
  • Given the fact that these are after-tax figures I can assume that conservatively I would have had to earn $40,000 to support my habit during the last 5 years.
